Isaiah 11:1-9
DEVOTION
Sometimes life feels unfair. We have a vision for what life should look like or how people should act and when that vision does not come true, we feel offended or like life is out of balance. We think the scales of justice should always tip in our favor.
Fortunately, we have a just and righteous Leader upon whom those scales are built. HIS vision of fairness or justice is perfect and ours is not. When life feels unfair, our peace is easily disrupted. We become irritable. We get cranky. We complain. We seek revenge. We hold grudges. Our peace and comfort is often based upon our circumstances. When the boat becomes unsteady, we lose it.
Jesus came to bring ultimate peace. When we choose to follow Him and receive the Holy Spirit, we receive His peace! Peace that is not based upon what is happening around us. Peace that cannot be stolen. True peace comes from knowing that our Savior has already defeated sin and won the battle for our eternity. We will stand before the Righteous Judge and be found not guilty, because He took our guilt upon Himself. That is a righteousness we could never understand. But for which I am eternally grateful.

What have you been allowing to rattle you? Where have you sought your own form of justice?
PRAY
Dear Heavenly Father, I know that you are true peace. Please help me to rely on your peace when life gets hard. Forgive me for trying to seek my own version of justice and righteousness. Thank you for being righteous for me!
