Our online portal lets you link your checking or credit card to easily give now and in the future. You can either do a one time gift or set up a recurring gift.
Check
Checks can be made payable to First Christian Church. They can be brought to the church during office hours. There are also giving boxes at the entrances to the worship room where checks can be dropped off on Sundays. Checks may also be mailed to: First Christian Church, 115 Park Ridge Dr, Warsaw, IN 46580.
Qualified Charitable Distribution
Normally, a distribution from a traditional IRA is taxable since the holder has not paid taxes on the money yet. But when account holders turn 70½ or older, you may be able to have your IRA custodian donate up to $100,000 directly to First Christian Church. This would not be considered a taxable distribution. This could also be used to fulfill any required minimum distributions.
Gift of Appreciated Assets (Stocks & Mutual Funds)
Compared to donating cash, or selling your appreciated securities and donating the after-tax proceeds, you may be able to increase your gift by giving the asset itself. When you directly donate a stock/mutual fund that has increased in value, you generally receive a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the security at that time. Therefore, you do not have to pay for the capital gain to sell it.
Why do we give?
God is the ultimate giver who gave the most precious gift imaginable - His Son Jesus - to die on the cross for our sins. Our lives are transformed by the gospel of Christ. When we learn to give generously, it changes us, making us more like our generous Creator.
What is a tithe? What is an offering?
The word "tithe" literally means tenth or 10%. Tithing is giving the first ten percent of our income back to God. The Bible says that everything we have comes from Him, so tithing is actually returning to God what belongs to Him. When we tithe, we are putting God first in our lives and trusting Him to provide for all of our needs. An offering is anything we give beyond the 10%.
It takes financial resources to accomplish the work God has called us to do. Our obedient tithes and generous offerings enable First Christain Church to fulfill its mission of Loving God, Loving People, and Making Disciples. Our giving funds the daily operations of the church, fuels special projects, and supports the many core and outreach ministries.
